Soy Stuart, un chico de unos 40 años originario de Inglaterra, pero ahora de Barcelona.
Trabajo en IT, tengo mis gustos y disgustos, etc.
Esta aventura empezó cuando me enamoré.

Resulta que tengo una relación seria y duradera, y a la chica le gusta el rock y el metal, como a mí. Toca el piano y sabe cantar, no es convencional en muchas cosas, es más lista que yo, incluso su nombre suena a 'raro'. Encajamos.
Empecé a soñar despierto con sorprenderla subido al escenario tocando algo. El escenario suele ser el banquete de nuestra boda, aunque esto no va en serio, ya que ninguno de los dos creemos en esa costumbre en particular. A veces aparece Dave Grohl, pero no lo conozco, así que no sé por qué. Pero nos gustan mucho los Foos.
La ensoñación se convirtió en una visión un poco obsesiva.
Esto se ha convertido en un serio objetivo a largo plazo. Suponiendo que sobrevivamos a COVID, Putin, etc, lo haré. Y tal vez lo haga como es debido, con una banda, pero no como líder, ni siquiera como guitarra solista. No seré el próximo EVH.
He visto un montón de documentales sobre la escena hardcore americana de los 80, también he leído algunos y he pensado en cuando probé la guitarra en los 90, cuando todo giraba en torno a Nirvana, Metallica y Extreme, y Muse, en cuya ciudad viví durante mi adolescencia.
Aquella vez duré más o menos un año.
Así que empecé en julio, rápidamente encontré los cursos de Justin, me compré una FS by Aria Pro II... y luego otra... y luego una Squier Strat SE cuando me di cuenta de lo malas que eran esas dos Arias, le puse una cejuela nueva, hice mi propia electrónica y configuración gracias a DylanTalksTone, conseguí una Line6 Spider barata y un pedal Joyo American Sound. Añadí un Little Big Muff, porque también recordé que me gustaban los Smashing Pumpkins.
Ahora también tengo una Harley Benton SC450, con Epiphone Alnico Classic Pros de una ES-335 y potes CTS, también una cejuela de hueso. Además, dos pedales Behringer (DM100 y TO800).
Estoy trabajando para perfeccionar el riff de apertura en 'Tribute' de Tenacious D y la apertura de 'House of the Rising Sun', 'Have Love, Will Travel' es lo primero que toqué hasta el final, la siguiente que intentaré es 'Hurt' de Johnny Cash, y las de Foo Fighters 'All My Life' y 'Bridge Burning'.
Pero no se lo digas a mi pareja, ¿vale?

This adventure started after I fell in love.
Yeah, ok, you can all stop groaning now, sounds like a zombie movie. You in the back, are you gonna need a bucket?
So, it turns out I am in a serious, long-term relationship, and the lady likes rock and metal, like me. She plays the piano and can sing, is not conventional in many things, smarter than me, even her name sounds like ‘weird’. We fit.
I started daydreaming of surprising her by being onstage playing something. The setting is usually our wedding reception, although this is not serious, as neither of us believe in that particular custom. Sometimes Dave Grohl shows up, but I don’t know him, so buggered if I know why. We’re pretty seriously into the Foos, tho.
The daydream became a bit of an obsessive vision.
This has become a serious long-term objective. Assuming we survive COVID, Putin, etc, I will do this. And maybe do it properly, with a band - but not as the leader, or even lead guitar. The next EVH, I am not.
Watched a bunch of documentaries focused around the 80s American Hardcore scene, read some also, and thought about when I tried guitar back in the 90s, when it was all about Nirvana and Metallica and Extreme - and Muse, in whose town I lived for my teens.
That time, I lasted about a year.
So, I started back in July, quite quickly found Justin’s courses, got myself an FS by Aria Pro II… and then another one… and then a Squier Strat SE when I figured out how bad those two Arias were, put in a new nut, did my own electronics and setup thanks to DylanTalksTone, got a cheap Line6 Spider and a Joyo American Sound pedal to go through. Added to that a Little Big Muff, cos I also remembered I liked the Smashing Pumpkins.
Now also have a Harley Benton SC450, with Epiphone Alnico Classic Pros from an ES-335 and CTS pots, also a bone nut. Plus, two Behringer pedals (DM100 and TO800).
I’m working my way to perfecting the opening riff in Tenacious D’s ‘Tribute’ and the opening to ‘House of the Rising Sun’, ‘Have Love, Will Travel’ is the first thing I played all the way through, the next one I will try is ‘Hurt’ from Johnny Cash, and the Foo Fighters ‘All My Life’ and 'Bridge Burning'.
But don't tell my partner, OK?
