An interview with Mia Rose was posted on the 09/27/2007 on the website ugcDb. The interview was done over IM and here it is!:
We had the opportunity to interview Mia Rose - a musician and real YouTube success story who has a new single coming out, “Hold me Now.”
We chatted with Mia over IM about her latest song, her singing, and the impact YouTube has had on her career - and learned a bit more about some of her other interests as well.
Stay tuned for her record to come out - we’ll surely be hearing more from Mia.
ugcDb: Congratulations on the record deal and your new song, “Hold me Now” - when does your record come out?
Mia Rose: thank you! The single should be released in November if all goes well.
ugcDb: Are you going to create a video for Youtube for it? or just the mySpace song for now?
Mia Rose: I’ll definitely promote it on Youtube and put up a video with some footage of the making of it!
ucgDb: The song is getting a lot of plays right now - over 30,000 on MySpace - have you gotten any feedback from it yet?
Mia Rose: Oh yeh!! I’m so excited that the people like it and the feedback has been so positive!! I mean it was my first song, and I was part of the making of it, so its kind of like my “baby”, so I feel very proud of its progress!!
ugcDb: I read in your bio that you’ve been singing since you were six - how did you get started?
Mia Rose: Its such a funny story actually!! When I was a baby, when I would cry, my dad would put the music louder and louder, so I think from that I was poisoned with a love for music. I don’t know if that makes sense, but ever since I sang everywhere!!
ugcDb: Did you take any singing classes or anything like that while growing up?
Mia Rose: Nope! I wanted to! But I never really got around to it! I was more interested in sports! lol
ugcDb: What sports did you play?
Mia Rose: Volley ball, EUROPEAN football basket ball, surfing!! I love sports
ugcDb: So if you weren’t singing, would you be doing something more sports related?
Mia Rose: Actually no, lol, this probably sounds confusing! But as I had a passion for music, I also have one for literature! I’m a shakespeare junkie!! I was taking a course in university - Journalism with English literature! I’d probably be a journalist
ugcDb: You rose up pretty quickly in YouTube - how big a role has YouTube played in your music career?
Mia Rose: Its been a key instrument because if it wasn’t for YouTube, it probably would have took me much longer to be “discovered”, shall we say, by the music industry! Its a great place (YouTube) with amazing prospects for musicians, aspiring comedians, directors etc...
ugcDb: There were some rumors earlier on that maybe you were a “lonelygirl15″ type of person - how did you handle those kind of comments?
Mia Rose: It was definitely tough at the beginning because I wasn’t used to having people who didn’t know me judge me and criticize me - let alone formulate a preposterous theory around my rise! I understood their probable reasoning behind it but it was unfair and unjust. I guess I was just lucky and people actually enjoyed listening to me singing!! The reason why I had quite a few subscribers which had no videos watched was because YouTube has a thing where when you join for the first time you have to chose 2 or 3 (I don’t really know) channels that you can immediately subscribe to and at one point mine was one! So you see? all one big conspiracy! lol
ugcDb: Getting back to the songs/album - are you collaborating with any other musicians?
Mia Rose: We are definitely looking at a duet with a fellow artist! I was hoping Tyler Hilton or James Morrison (cuz they’re great) but we haven’t quite decided yet!
ugcDb: Do you have any advice for upcoming musicians?
Mia Rose: Sure! Be headstrong about your abilities and always be humble! Also “no one can ever make you feel bad without your consent” so don’t let anyone’s harsh words bring you down!
P.D: La entrevista la pondré traducida en breve, perdonar las molestias. Muchas gracias.
